Membership Campaign: Smedley Award

Membership building contests are a great way to mobilise the club and create a buzz of excitement as guests come in.  Smedley Award is one of three global membership campaigns. It runs from 1 August to 30 September and Toastmasters International recognize those clubs that add five new, dual or reinstated members.  Accomplish this goal and you’ll qualify to receive a “Smedley Award” ribbon, named in honour of Ralph Smedley, which you can display on your club’s banner.  Qualifying clubs can also earn a special discount code for 10-percent off their next club order.

To that the District adds club vouchers.

The District also adds Area and Division Vouchers.

Incentives for the Areas and Divisions with the most new, dual or reinstated members between 1 August-30 September 2019.  Directors can use this to help top up their budgets to buy marketing material or recognition items for their clubs and members.

  • Top Four Area Directors $40 each
  • Top Division Director $75

Golden Quarter for New Clubs

July to September is the Golden Quarter for chartering clubs as their members can engage fully with this year’s program. Clubs that charter in the Golden Quarter will receive:

  • One hundred dollars ($100) in vouchers, and
  • Their own club cloth banner worth $100

 

To prime the Club Growth pump:

  • Any member who proposes a new club that results in an official Application to Organise being accepted by Toastmasters International – $15 voucher.
  • Any new Demonstration meeting to start a new club – €85 towards venue hire, refreshment, or marketing materials.

September Renewals

Timely dues renewal is of vital importance to smooth running clubs.  Those whose dues have not been paid to Toastmasters International on or before 30 September cease to be members and cease to enjoy all the features and benefits of membership, be they officers or contestants.  There is no grace period.  Clubs that have not renewed at least eight members including three from the previous period are not in Good Standing, disqualifying their members from contests.

Voucher Incentives for renewals by 15 September

Measured relative to the Club base number of members at the start of this programme year.  For example, if your club starts the year with 20 members, has 5 resignations, but gains 7 new members and completes all renewals in time you will have 110% renewal being equal to (20-5+7)/20

  • 100% or more renewal $25
  • 90-99% renewal $15
