Communication and leadership development

Toastmasters Pathways Learning Experience

Pathways is the revitalised education programme that was introduced in 2018, following extensive research by Toastmasters International.

It is a flexible and interactive way to learn communication and leadership skills – crucial to success – recognising that the two are often inextricably linked.  Online content, including tutorials and videos, means that you can learn real-world transferable skills anytime, anywhere and in a number of languages.  It gives you the opportunity to build up to 300 competencies with 11 specialised learning paths to choose from.

Accessing Pathways on the Toastmasters International website using Base Camp you will complete an online assessment of your skills, interests and goals.  The assessment will recommend three paths that best match your responses.  You may then choose one of these or select another path altogether.  There is a total of 11 paths with each path made up of 5 core competencies – Mastering Fundamentals, Learning your Style, Increasing Knowledge, Building Skills, Demonstrating Expertise – designed so that you’re always building on what you have learned at the previous level.  Path recognition is achieved when a member completes 14 projects. Recognition of achievement at all levels through badges, awards and certificates is a very important part of Toastmasters.

If you prefer to work from printed materials some pathways are also available in this format. Pathways also offers accessible educational materials for the visually-impaired.
