June ’19 Member Incentives

District Directors Member Incentive

By Patricia O’Reilly

Before I hang up my boots as District Director, I’m running a membership building campaign open to all members to strengthen our clubs before handing over to the incoming committee. This campaign runs in conjunction with the “Beat the Clock” and “Open Night” campaigns.

Between 1st June and 30th June:

Bring 3 new members into your club and win a Portable Bluetooth Speaker worth $37 or its monetary equivalent from the Toastmasters International shop together with a Member Badge with Magnetic Back and a Membership Pin (full colour).

Bring 2 new members into your club and win a Directors Notebook worth $14.50 or its monetary equivalent from the Toastmasters International shop together with either a Member Badge with Magnetic Back or a Membership Pin (full colour).

Bring 1 new member into your club and win a Member Badge with Magnetic Back worth $8 together with a Membership Pin (full colour) worth $6.50 or the monetary equivalent from the Toastmasters International shop.

Remember:
a new member can be:

  • a new member to toastmasters,
  • a dual member (an existing member of another toastmaster club) or
  • a reinstated member (a former member who is now ready to come back to toastmasters)

Remember: any member who joins a club in June pays an apportioned subscription to Toastmasters International of $30 (+$20 new member fee for brand new members).

To qualify for your prize, the new member(s) must be registered with Toastmasters International no later than 30th June. Send the name(s) of the new members(s) to me patriciaoreillytm@toastmasters.org before the 7th July and I’ll check the membership list as at the 30th June.

Mar 19 Public Relations Update

March Public Relations Update

By Daniel Sandars Public Relations Manager

The acid test of a club’s public relations can be counted as the number of inquiries and guests it receives. Close to that are the number of new members joining of which TI keeps statistics. The average club has attracted 6.6 new members in the period 1st July to 22 Feb which is in the ball park of the last three years (See chart), but we could aim to be the best of the past five years by 30th June.

The picture is variable. Nearly 20 clubs have not yet attracted a new member and a third of clubs have not yet gained 4 new members. In contrast. the best club has already got 34 new members and may split this year.

A top tip is to record guests and inquiries and ask how they heard about you. Do that and you are a long way towards working smarter not just harder.

New member statistics can be tracked on Toastmasters International Dashboard Just search for your club. You can select the dates at the top to go back in time. Another good statistics source is George Marshall’s TM Tools for Toastmasters

There are 7,270 Euros of Public Relation Rewards virtually UNCLAIMED!

I am relying on clubs to claim and you can backdate to 1st September.

Have you claimed your open night? Have you started a new PR activity or channel? Have you encouraged your members to visit other clubs, or had visitors to your club, and claim their Traveling Toasties? Have you done a club video project? or a club Wow!Factor project?

  1. Details of all District Incentives are here http://bit.ly/2tL8mAU
  2. Details of PR incentives are here http://bit.ly/2GhIN3C
  3. To help claim you can also use a google form http://bit.ly/2TXlmSw
  4. To follow claims I have info on that may not be complete see here http://bit.ly/2BvT877

Claims in ASAP or before 30th April to ensure incentive distribution at the conference. Beyond that June the 9th is the last day I can post and reclaim costs if your incentive has arrived from the TI store -be warned! and get in touch ASAP

The Region Advisors’ D71 #MyWhy challenge

By Daniel Sandars, Public Relations Manager

Our Region Advisor Elizabeth Nostedt visits our district in late January 2019 and has challenged members to produce their #MyWhy videos. The #MyWhy campaign is an initiative of Toastmasters International see https://www.toastmasters.org/MyWhy and also see example

The concept is simple:

  1. Record a one-minute (or less) video telling us your story. During the first 30 seconds, explain your motivation or the personal or professional challenge you faced. Then spend 30 seconds explaining how Toastmasters has helped you.
  2. At the end of your video, hold up this sign (http://bit.ly/2RZE7AD) and say, “And that’s my why!” If you can’t print the sign, write #MyWhy on a piece of paper or hold up the sign on your phone.
  3. To share your video with friends and family, post it on your personal social media pages with hashtag #MyWhy and tag Toastmasters International. Make your post public so the world can hear your story! The District has a http://bit.ly/2QRr3jG that you can use to (re) publish your video so please ask me to do that (see below).
  4. Email a link to your video to Daniel the District Public Relations Manager daniel.pr_manager_d71@sandars.org.uk before the deadline including details of your home club.
