I work as a project manager, mainly in IT. I’m very process oriented and I was sent to Toastmasters by my work because they knew it could help me in my work. It greatly helped me develop in my communication skills and confidence.

My mum is also a member of Toastmasters, so we get to do fun things together.

I was District Realignment Chair in 2018/19 and Area Director for area 39. I was awarded Toastmaster of the Year at the Toastmasters conference in Norwich in 2019.

How I have benefited from my Toastmasters experience
I didn't have much confidence when I joined Toastmasters and I didn't know what I didn't know. I'm autistic so I can struggle with learning social things, and being part of Toastmasters has helped me learn a lot about this. Where I've flourished the most is in the leadership roles, as that's very applicable to my work. It's allowed me to practice things in a safe environment that I've then been able to use in other situations.

What most excites me about my District role
Being involved in easySpeak has helped me understand more about the District and the roles that people do. It's great to meet new people, who become good friends.

What I would say to someone considering a Toastmasters leadership position is....
You will learn that you're able to do things that you never thought about and uncover natural skills.
