Portlaoise Toastmasters Club took the global brand to the public on the 8th April with a stand at the Live Well Expo at the Portlaoise Park Hotel. Despite being allocated a position at the rear of the hall they connected with several hundred of the estimated three thousand who attended the exhibition. Thirty five members of the public signed up to get email information and three of them attended the next club meeting on 13th April and several more have emailed their intention to attend the club on the 27th April.
The Portlaoise Club Secretary, Phoung Hoa Thai, who initiated and organised the stand was confident that the event would result in new members joining. Division D Director, Mark Bastow, congratulated all who took part in promoting the Toastmaster Brand and taking time off work to build club membership.
