Set Your Club Up for Success

Every successful Toastmasters year starts with the choices we make in the first few weeks. July is the ideal time to build strong foundations that will benefit every member throughout the year.

Here are three simple ways your club can set itself up for success.

Invest in your club’s leaders

Great clubs don’t happen by accident. They are led by club officers who understand their roles, work well together and know where to find support. Club Officer Training equips officers with practical ideas, resources and the opportunity to learn from experienced leaders across the District, helping them create an even better experience for every member.

Take action: Encourage your club officers to complete Club Officer Training before 31 August. Training dates and learning resources are available on the District website.

Agree your priorities early

The most successful clubs don’t leave the year to chance. A Club Success Plan provides a clear roadmap, helping committees focus on what matters most to their members and make better decisions throughout the year. Creating the plan early gives everyone a shared sense of direction and significantly increases the likelihood of a successful year.

Take action: Encourage your committee to begin developing your Club Success Plan during July and submit it in Club Central by 30 September.

Build a partnership with your Area Director

Your Area Director is one of your club’s greatest resources. They can share ideas that have worked elsewhere, connect you with support, celebrate your successes and help identify opportunities before challenges become obstacles. Area Council meetings also provide valuable opportunities to learn from neighbouring clubs and work together to strengthen the member experience.

Take action: Invite your Area Director to visit your club early in the programme year and arrange your first Area Council meeting. If your Area Director has not yet been appointed, your Division Director will be happy to help.

A little time invested now will pay dividends throughout the year. Together, we can build clubs where members achieve more, leaders grow with confidence and every meeting delivers the quality experience that keeps people coming back.
