MASTERING THE MOMENT: INSIGHTS FROM OUR CHAMPIONS

What does it take to master the moment when the spotlight is on?

In our May edition of Toastmasters Unplugged: Mastering the Moment, we caught up with our newly crowned District 71 champions to hear about their experiences, their approach to competition, and what speaking means to them.

Among the champions was Aaron Day, winner of the International Speech Contest, who shared some particularly powerful reflections on the story behind his winning speech – and the role of humanity and vulnerability in connecting with an audience.

Here are two short clips from that conversation:

Two short clips, but plenty to think about for anyone who has ever stepped up to a Toastmasters stage.

And, of course, Aaron wasn’t the only champion we heard from. Mastering the Moment brought together James McGinty and Nick Collins to share their experiences, insights and lessons from competing at the highest level.

Because sometimes, mastering the moment isn’t about being perfect – it’s about being present, authentic and willing to connect.
