Area Director
Summary
Area Directors provide support and guidance to the officers of clubs in their area. They hold regular Area Council meetings to share knowledge, highlight issues, plan activities and lead the creation of new clubs. Excellent Area Directors demonstrate strong leadership qualities that inspire and motivate others. They lead by example, setting high standards, embodying core values and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. They have good organisational and planning skills, demonstrate a high level of commitment to their role and are able to build strong relationships.

Main responsibilities
- Meet regularly with the Area Council (Area Director, Assistant Area Directors and the President, VP Education and VP Membership of each club in the area). The Area Council should meet at least quarterly each year. ADs are responsible for ensuring that club officers are appropriately trained, leading the creation of new clubs and planning the twice yearly Area speech contests.
- Perform at least two visits to each club and write helpful reports that recognise good practice and make practical recommendations for improvement.
- Participate in twice yearly District Officer Training
- Represent the Area at District Executive Committee meetings
- Work with the Area Council to manage the recruitment and election of the incoming Area Director and selection of Assistant Area Directors
- Manage the Area financial budget and any incentive payments in line with the District’s procedures
- Undertake the tasks and responsibilities described in the District Leadership Handbook and ensure that all deadlines are met
- Complete the Area Success Plan and share this with Division Director and the Area Council members
- Provide guidance for the club officers in the development of their Club Success Plan and organise a review of the plan and achievement of goals in the Distinguished Club Program
- Organise an awards celebration for members who achieve educational goals
