District 71 Parliamentarian, Larry Lyons, recently created a training course about Parliamentary Procedure that was well attended and received great praise. A number of participants have created videos about their experience.
In addition, Toastmasters International Director, Jean Gamester DTM, was the guest of honour at the final session of the Parliamentary Procedure training on 6th December. International Director Jean was fulsome in her praise for the course.
The next course will be held in February/March 2023. Please email Larry Lyons for further details
Feedback from Julie Murphy
From my Parliamentary Procedure training I learned that “Robert’s rules of order” is a reputable and well laid out reference book and guide for running orderly and fairly conducted meetings.
I learned the language of chairing meetings, proposing motions, amending motions, adopting motions, points of order, writing minutes and the duties associated with roles withing clubs.
I loved learning through role plays and the on line polls which tested my understanding of the rules of order, and I also loved the support of the other participants and the trainer.
This training is useful for me as I’m an executive coach. I coach some people who will serve on board following their promotions. This is daunting for some so I’m delighted to be able to recommend Robert’s rules of order and discuss what they will need to do at the meetings.
Knowledge is no load so I encourage member to take this training as it your gateway to divisional roles within Toastmasters or on board of management for community organisations.
