Following the Covid pandemic, at the start of 2022, Central Toastmasters, decided to return to face to face meetings and found them reduced to only two members.
When I joined Central Toastmasters in October 2022, there were only three members, including myself.
Slowly and consistently, we have worked hard, to build up our membership.
We lost nine members at the last renewal.
With the continous support and expertise from our DTM member, James McGinty, we have been able to build up our membership.
Our club culture, is something I am exceptionally proud of, as the current President.
We provide a safe, encouragaing and supportive environment, for first time guests, to enjoy our meeting.
Plus, we continuously offer a safe, encouraging and supportive environment, for our new members, to step out of their comfort zone and take on new roles and deliver their icebreaker.
First time guests’ feedback is consistent with our club culture. They feel our safe, supportive and encouraging environment, on their first visit.
This is what attracts first time guests, to join our club, without a second or third visit.
Our club has already met our Club Success Plan, as we are currently sitting at six points in the DCP.
We are simply the best club in Glasgow, for guests to join and for new members to flourish where they consistently develop their communication, public speaking and leadership skills.
We recently started to provide members new and old, a mentoring program, where they are matched with a mentor.
Mentoring is also available once a month, on zoom, which is also a recent new addition, to our club.
We have had members from Glasgow Toastmasters and Clyde in Area 60, frequently join our club meetings, because they thoroughly enjoy our meetings. These members help us to fill our meeting agendas and support us at contests, by taking up a contest functionary role.
Our VPE Kyle Murtagh, Treasurer James McGinty and myself, are doing a tremendous job, by attending every committee meeting and working hard, on their role, to support our members and guests.
Our Treasurer James McGinty does a steller job with keeping an eye on our finances. Plus, he is the Tech Master, in our club.
Our club is of multi cultural members, of different age groups, where we learn so much about each other, when we deliver prepared and impromptu speeches.
We have fun at every club meeting and this helps first time guests to feel at ease.
We as a club, are a tremendous example of ‘team work makes the dream work’.
At our last two meetings, we had a full room, packed with bums on seats. The atmosphere was electrifying and energetic.
We had three guests, join as members at our last meeting.
Our club is going from strength to strength, thanks to the outstanding team work.
At club contests, we have members who have never competed before, take to it, like duck to water.
Our club has two experienced members, Kyle Murtagh and James McGinty, who frequently competes at club level and reach the District level, where they have placed first, on numerous occasions.
With this amount of achievements, I believe our club deserves to be recognised, by District.
