Who uses Toastmasters?
Almost 4,000 employers already integrate Toastmasters into their leadership and talent development programmes. This includes nearly 300 of the Fortune 500 companies.
How does it work?
Toastmasters provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment in which your employees develop skills that are relevant to them. It is a self-paced programme in which participants can study and apply skills in over 300 competency areas using our world-class Pathways system.
Pathways allows participants to choose an area of focus, such as dynamic leadership or presentation mastery. They undertake a number of projects in which they learn some theory and techniques, put their learning into practice and then receive feedback to help them improve. You can find out more on the Pathways information website.
What are the requirements?
To run an effective Toastmasters educational programme in your workplace, you will need:
Four to six people who are keen to develop their leadership skills by taking responsibility for the programme within your organisation. A typical workplace programme has 25 – 30 participants, with a minimum of 20. They normally meet for one hour every one or two weeks in order to practice their skills and receive feedback on their progress.
The structure is flexible and can be adapted to meet the needs of the participants and your organisation.
A typical annual budget for 25 participants is US$ 3,700 / €3,500 / £2,900
This includes all online educational materials and the opportunity for your club leaders to participate in training events.
All programme fees are paid in US Dollars and consist of the following:
- Application fee: US $125
- Joining fee: US $20 for each new programme participant when they enroll
- Membership fee: US $120 per year for each participan
What else can Toastmasters offer?
If running a tailored programme within your workplace is not the best option for you, people can still benefit from the Toastmasters experience by joining a nearby community club. When people become an individual member of a club, they have access to the same educational materials and resources that are provided in workplace programmes. Some clubs offer a condensed training course for small groups through our Speechcraft programme.
If this is of interest, go to Find A Club to contact your local club.
