| When I first stepped into a Tralee Toastmasters meeting, Vicky McCarthy as club President was in the Chair. Only in her mid-twenties at the time, Vicky ran the meeting more efficiently than many CEOs I have encountered since. Vicky is the beating heartbeat of Tralee Toastmasters. She brought her sister, her friends and her parents to our meetings and encouraged many, many guests to join. And this year as President once more, she is driving the club forward, pushing new initiatives, increasing membership and member retention. In her time at Tralee Toastmasters, she took part in a mock wedding to help speakers overcome their nerves, ran a meeting as Toastmaster, dressed as a spooky witch in a haunted castle and scariest of all, she became my mentor. Thanks to her encouragement and advice and the support of others at the club, I became District 91 speech champion in 2023. You are truly an unsung hero, Vicky. Thank you for all you do. |
