Stevenage Speakers invites you to a new event designed to develop your speaking and leadership skills and get expert best practices while having fun. This time we have an event about leadership lessons.

One of our prepared speeches will be given by Barry Lane. Barry is a Distinguished Toastmasters (DTM). He is a firm believer in education and has designed multiple training workshops. He is calm under pressure and has excellent communication and leadership skills. With his speech “Don’t Judge Me!” he shares with us his lessons learned as a leader. In his own words, “Maybe we should back a little and not be so fast to jump in and judge people”. In his speech, he will share with us why is this important and how we can implement it.
TJ will give his prepared speech with the title “Tsvimbo”, from the path “Persuasive Influence”. The project is about understanding our leadership style. He will share some aspect of a chosen leadership style or leadership styles in general; discuss style preferences when working with others, how to adapt the chosen leadership style to situations, or leadership styles in general and how they impact a group.

As always, we will have a mix of prepared and improvised speeches, perhaps yours. Come along, speak up, have fun, get expert feedback, and enjoy our supportive environment, where speakers and leaders are made!

Many clubs experience a loss in membership at September renewals as existing members leave the club for lots of different reasons. This incentive rewards clubs which renew 80% or more of their membership base at 30th June 2021. Having a good base of experienced members is important to offer mentoring to new members and stability to the club.

It’s a good idea to follow up with members who do not renew to help club officers to understand the reason for not renewing and to extend an invite to rejoin at a future stage. They may be happy to stay on the club’s email list with this in mind.

Good PR attracts new guests, invites discussion and improves the reputation of the Club and Toastmasters generally.

Many clubs experience a loss in membership at September renewals as existing members leave the club for lots of different reasons. Recruiting in the early months helps to maintain the membership based upon the number of members at 30 June.

Maintaining a healthy membership number (25+) gives the club a much better opportunity to hold quality meetings with enough members to avoid double roles. Quality club meetings attract new members. Healthy club growth is an important part of Club Success.
